5 Trends Im Keeping For Summer

Obviously the lifecycle of trends has shortened itself down to 2 months maximum. With that in mind, people in the industry are starting carry-over trends – something that is moved over the course of two seasons instead of one.

Now onto the trends I’m keeping and the trends I’m leaving.

  1. Keeping in color – getting rid of neon

Neon has been a popular staple for the past few months, adding color to the fall and winter months. Now that spring is over, it’s time we finally hang up those neon boots and coats and move over to more of the primary colors. In this coming season; Muppet green, baby blue, light lavender, the bright reddish-orange known as “fiesta,” powdery ballet pink and of course the color of the year, “living coral.”

  1. Keeping in statement bags – getting rid of crossbody’s

Crossbody bags have been a staple in everyone’s wardrobe for years, but now it’s time to leave those behind and go to handheld bags. Statement bags – from mini purses, to the new trend of chainmail – are taking over the streets, giving life to minimalistic outfits.

  1. Keeping in monochrome – getting rid of mix & match patterns

Mix & match patterns have taken the runways by storm in the past few months – from Gucci to Zara – everything has been prints on prints (never really coordinating). Monochrome is always something hard to achieve (finding those perfectly matching colors) , but creates an look that peaks interest and appears more expensive than it is.

  1. Keeping in kitten heels – getting rid of platform sandals

Platform sandals provide comfort while also giving you the lift you want to achieve with heels. It’s time though, sadly, to leave these behind. Kitten heels provide the same lift and the same comfort but adhere to the new trends in shoes (square toe, see-through, etc.).

  1. Keeping in puffed shoulders – getting rid of the square neckline

Even though it may seem like the square neckline has just entered the fashion arena, there is a new statement for your neckline, PUFFED SHOULDERS. Of course, you can always have a square neckline and a puffed shoulder for the ultimate amount of trendiness.
